Emergency Room and Trauma


        Attends and treats all emergency cases regardless of specific department,Refers cases to specific department and services.An ER physician is on duty 24 hours a day to triage patients and to administer emergency measures if necessary. Upon arrival of an emergency case, the ER nurse immediately attends to the patient for emergency measures; obtain patient data, record vital signs then refer to the ER resident on duty. If vital signs are absent, the ER staff gives immediate resuscitative measures and refers to the physician on duty. If the resuscitation fails, the patient pronounced dead on arrival. Post-mortem care will be done by the nursing attendant/nurse for medico legal cases refer to SROD and/or police authority. If patient is for admission, notify the respective department for orders. If patient is for referral to other health facilities, prepare referral documents and coordinate. If patient is for discharge, instruct patient/relative to comply with discharge documents.
