Pipe Fitting NC II training launched at Laguna Provincial Jail

Pipe Fitting NC II training launched at Laguna Provincial Jail

September 16, 2019

STA. CRUZ, Laguna – The Provincial Government of Laguna headed by Governor Ramil L. Hernandez, through the Laguna Provincial Jail (LPJ), spearheaded the launching of a free livelihood skills training course on Pipe Fitting NC II on 05 August 2019 at the LPJ Administration Building.

A total of 50 Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) availed of the training: 13 from Dr. Jose P. Rizal, 12 from Gat. Andres Bonifacio, 6 from Teodora Alonzo (Female), 10 from Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo and 9 from Gen. Antonio Luna dormitories.

To facilitate the training course, a Memorandum of Agreement was signed by Provincial Warden CSupt Norman V. Pinion (Ret.) representing LPJ, and Mr. Paterno L. Ubeda, President of UBEDA Manpower Training Center, Inc. (UMTCI) of Santo Cristo, San Jose, Batangas Province, in close coordination with the Technical Education Skills and Development Authority (TESDA).

The course takes 202 hours to complete, a productive opportunity for the PDLs because they are given the chance to acquire knowledge and skills on pipefitting or piping system for free and while in detention.

After the training, they will be given a Competency Assessment and if they pass said assessment, they will be issued a National Certificate or the NC II.

Lecturers and trainers are UMTCI personnel Mr. Darwin M. Cajumbal, Mr. Reynaldo M. Dolor, Mr. Allan N. De Torres and Mr. Ronald O. Robles.

Mr. Robles said that the national certification will help the PDLs get employed either locally or overseas upon their release from jail, to have a decent job, and be able to start a new life.
