PCDO forms new agri-coop in Cavinti, Laguna

Provincial Cooperative Development Office
September 11, 2020

In response to the government's call to boost local food production in this time of pandemic, the Provincial Cooperative Development Office (PCDO) staff led by Engr. Edwin Bautista provided assistance to  Barangay Paowin residents in forming an agricultural cooperative.

Eighteen (18) residents of said barangay gathered for a one day cooperative orientation seminar conducted by the PCDO at the Sipag at Pagkakaisa Events Center at the Cavinti town on September 8, 2020.

The participants were given lecture on the basic knowledge on cooperative, its history in the Philippines, fundamental concept and principles, capitalization, organizational structure and the requirements and procedures for cooperative registration with the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA).

Upon learning about the different types of cooperatives, the participants who were mostly engaged in farming, fish production and weaving decided to initially form an agricultural cooperative or agri-coop, which they envision to grow into a multi-purpose cooperative in the future.

PCDO head Mr. Edwin S. Bautista, Supervising Cooperative Development Specialist Mr. Noly Balboa, along with members of the training team Mr. Amor Cariño and Bonifacio Pascual, facilitated the activity.
