MISO conducts Data Privacy Compliance orientation in Cavite

In partnership with the the Provincial Government of Cavite (PGC), the Laguna Management Information Systems Office (MISO) held an Orientation on the Data Privacy Act of 2012 on August 13, 2019 at the Bay Leaf Hotel in Cavite.

The activity was part of the Organizational and Technological Security Measures for Data Privacy Act Compliance and was organized by the Provincial Government of Laguna, participated in by the 38 offices of PGC.

Mr. Cleo R. Martinez, Information Technology Officer – Monitoring and Compliance Division of the National Privacy Commission, served as the main resource speaker along with Ms. Camille Lauren V. Del Rosario, Data Privacy Officer of PGC.

Other resource speakers were Ms. Stephanie Grace C. Reyes, Project Management Staff and Mr. Roi Vinzon D. Abrazaldo, Information System Analyst I, both from MISO-Laguna.

Mr. Martinez explained Republic Act 10173 or Data Privacy Act of 2012, its coverage and the role of each office - the processing of personal and sensitive personal information, as well as the duties, responsibilities of each office, and how it will protect the rights of the data subjects such as clients and employees.

 

Ms. Del Rosario, on the other hand, discussed the PGC Roadmap to Compliance and Mr. Abrazaldo talked about how to prepare the Data Privacy Manual.

Ms. Reyes discussed how to conduct the Privacy Impact Assessment and Inventory of Data Processing Systems.

The Laguna MISO conducted more seminar workshops on Privacy Impact Assessment and Privacy Manual on August 14-16 and 27-30, 2019 at the Ceremonial Hall, Provincial Capitol of Cavite in Trece Martirez.

MISO staff namely: Mrs. Aileen U. Rosales, Mr. Roi Vinson Abrazaldo, Ms. Stephanie Grace Reyes, Ms. Sharlene Joyce Vallez, Ms. Ivy Jan Flores and Ms. Pamela Yu conducted the workshops.

All seminars were well-attended and participated in by the PGC offices.
