Laguna PIO holds meeting of Information Officers Network

September 16, 2019

STA. CRUZ, Laguna – The Provincial Information Office (PIO) of the provincial government of Laguna (PGL) under Governor Ramil L. Hernandez, recently convened members of the Laguna Information Officers Network (LION) at the Governor’s Office Conference Room.

The main objective of the assembly is to build an accessible, reliable and accurate information database throughout the Province of Laguna through the information officers of LGUs and key national agencies within the province.

PIO head Mr. Christopher R. Sanji presided over the meeting, initially discussing the important role of the provincial government of Laguna’s (PGL) media partners in helping make the public aware of the programs of PGL, geared towards improving the lives of Lagunenses.

Provincial Administrator Atty. Dulce H. Rebanal welcomed the participants, echoing Mr. Sanji’s words on the relationship between PGL and the media, and stressing the immense importance of building a healthy and strong relationship.

The ensuing discussion focused on the proposed workshop on news writing and photo captioning in October 2019, creation of a LION Facebook account, current trends in social media, fake news and unwarranted criticism, recommendations and suggestions.

Ending the meeting was an open forum on how to properly and effectively disseminate current and urgent issues like class suspensions, traffic updates, police activities, education programs, and disaster preparedness, among others.

The event was participated in by information officers from Laguna’s different municipalities and cities, the Provincial Police Office, Bureau of Fire Protection, Department of the Interior & Local Government, Department of Education, Department of Trade & Industry, including the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction & Management Office and the Laguna Traffic Management Office.
