Laguna Lake fisherfolks undergo cooperative orientation seminar

September 24, 2020 Twenty seven (27) residents of Barangay Tubuan, Pila, Laguna attended the cooperative orientation seminar conducted by the Provincial Cooperative Development Office (PCDO) led by Engr. Edwin Bautista at the Tubuan Elementary School Covered Court.

The participants whose main source of livelihood is fishing from Laguna lake and marketing of marine products stepped up to form a cooperative with the support of the municipal government of Pila and the barangay.

The participants received lectures on the fundamental concept of cooperative covering the basic coop principles, organizational structure, capitalization requirement and the basic requirements for registration of the cooperative with the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA).

The PCDO Head also stressed the commitment of the provincial government to provide further support to the cooperative either in form of technical or financial assistance as part of its cooperative development programs.

The activity was initiated by Municipal Councilor Allan Matienzo and Municipal Agriculture Officer Mr. Camilo Palacol in coordination with PCDO in response to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
