2nd Laguna Folk Dance Competition

​The 2nd Laguna Folk Dance Competition, spearheaded by the Laguna Tourism, Culture Arts and Trade Office headed by Dr. Rosauro A. Sta. Maria, was held at the Laguna Sports Complex Gymnasium on November 28, 2017.

​Three were three categories, where there were only two in last year’s competition. The 2017 categories were the Elementary category (won by Santa Cruz Elementary School, with Pila Elementary School and Rainbow Institute of Learning Inc. of Pila as second and third respectively); junior/senior high school category (won by San Antonio de Padua College of Pila with Rainbow Institute of Learning. Inc. of Pila and STI College Sta. Cruz Branch as second and third respectively); and open category (won by Sining Kalinangan Cultural Troupe with Liksilaw Dance Troupe and PUP Sinlaw as second and third respectively).

The Laguna Folk Dance Competition was created to popularize native dances among Laguna’s performance artists and to enhance cultural awareness as an important tool in the tourism industry.
