Laguna LGU celebrates BFAR Fish Conservation Week

STA. CRUZ, Laguna – Governor Ramil L. Hernandez and the Provincial Government of Laguna recently celebrated the 54th Fish Conservation Week  of the Bureau of Fish and Aquatic Resources (BFAR)-Region IV-A, through the Field Agricultural Extension Services-Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (FAES-OPAg) headed by Mr. Marlon Tobias.

Highlights of the day included Governor Hernandez distributing fishing paraphernalia such as fishing gear and equipment, including patrol boats, to fishermen from the municipalities of Sta. Cruz, Victoria, Kalayaan and Siniloan; and seeding the Sta. Cruz River with thousands of tilapia fingerlings.

The said activities aim to support the fisher folk of the province; to preserve the wealth of Laguna’s aquatic resources; and help rehabilitate, conserve and protect Laguna de Bay as a source of life and livelihood for many Lagunenses.

Joining the celebration were Municipality of Sta. Cruz Mayor Domingo Panganiban and BFAR-4A Regional Director Dr. Lilian Garcia, CESE. (PIO Laguna)
