Laguna launches Agri and Fishery Farming System

January 22, 2018

STA. CRUZ, Laguna – Governor Ramil L. Hernandez and the Provincial Government of Laguna, through the provincial Field Agriculture and Extension Services-Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (FAES-OPAg) headed by Mr. Marlon P. Tobias, recently launched Laguna’s Agri and Fishery Farming System at the Demonstration Farm Complex in Barangay Calios, Sta. Cruz.

As highlights of the provincial government’s agricultural intensification campaign, Gov. Hernandez led the day’s activities such as planting rice, and tilapia fingerlings seeding for organic grow-out production.  He later distributed dwarf coconut seedlings, and garden tools like wheel barrows, spades, and water sprinklers to ten (10) organic agriculture associations.  He also participated in demonstrating the actual palay planting system using the paddy drum seeder.

In attendance were representatives from the Philippine Coconut Authority; Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources; Department of Agriculture RFO-IVA; municipal agriculturists; farmer and fisherfolk beneficiaries from the 3rd and 4th districts of the province; FAES-OPAg staff, and other guests.
