   HISTORY                                                                                                                                                                            


  
       The Office of the Provincial Veterinarian was created through Administrative Order No. 15 dated December 6, 1994 by the then Governor Restituto Luna in accordance with the Republic act 7160 or the Local Government Code of 1991. It was concurred by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan through Resolution No. 63, series of 1995.
 
      The first Provincial Veterinarian of the of the province of Laguna was Dr. Leoncio D. Rebong Jr, who served from 1995 until his retirement in February, 2006.
 
     The Office is in the frontline in terms of Prevention, Control and Eradication of Livestock and Poultry diseases. In recognition of the efforts of Office of the Provincial Veterinarian, the province was declared by the Department of Agriculture through the Bureau of Animal Industry as an FMD Protected Zone in 2006. Likewise, in 2008, the province was added by the DA-Bureau of Animal Industry to the list of areas FREE from Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) with vaccination.
 
    Aside from the control and eradication of livestock and poultry diseases, the Office is also responsible for the implementation of livestock and poultry production programs and project.

    1.    To help improve the living condition and increase the income of small animal raisers
    2.    To continuously improve the livestock & poultry production of the small animal raisers in the province of Laguna
    3.    To be able to declare Laguna as an Animal Disease-Free province
