PNAO conducts NAOs regular meeting with FNRI and Nutridense

November 7, 2017 – The Provincial Nutrition Action Office (PNAO) conducted the regular meeting with all the Laguna Nutrition Action Officers (NAOs) held at the Governor’s Conference Room, Provincial Capitol Compound, Sta. Cruz, Laguna. The meeting started at 10:00 am through 4:00 pm, presided by Laguna Provincial Nutrition Action Officer Ms. Teresita S. Ramos and was attended by 24 Municipal Nutrition Action Officers and 6 City Nutrition Action Officers.

Ms. Ramos discussed the 2017-2022 Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition, Operation Timbang Plus (OPT+) 2017 Status Report, Nutrition Program Reports and Implementation, Barangay Nutrition Program, the upcoming Year-end Assessment and NAO and BNS Convention.

During the meeting, the Nutridense Food Manufacturing Corporation headed by President Racky Doctor, discussed the company’s objective and endorsement of products in a partnership with the DOST- FNRI’s program to address malnutrition among children in the community. The products were snack food for children 2 years old and above and a food blend for babies 6 to 24 months old, both made from rice and mongo grains, iron-fortified rice and brown rice.

Other guest speakers were Ms. Josie Platon-Desnacido and Ms. Sharon B. Marasigan, Researchers from the Department of Science and Technology- Food and Nutrition Research Institute (DOST-FNRI) who discussed and presented the overview of the Expanded National Nutrition Survey (ENNS) that will commence in the 1st quarter of 2018 and to roll out until 2020. The Province of Laguna was randomly selected with some statistically selected cities, municipalities and barangays in the province to be covered by 2018. (Judy L. Melicio)
