PHO conducts Laguna Rabies Summit 2017

The Provincial Health Office of Laguna headed by Dr. Rene P. Bagamasbad, in collaboration with the Department Of Health-Region IV-A and Laguna Provincial Veterinary Office, conducted the Laguna Rabies Summit 2017 on 03 October 2017 at Auravel Grande Hotel and Resort in San Pablo City, Laguna. The summit’s theme was Rabies: Zero by 2020, which supports the ultimate goal to declare the Philippines a rabies-free country by the year 2020.

Activities included discussion on Rationale/Overview of the Rabies Summit, review on Republic Act 9482 or the “Anti-Rabies Act of 2007,” its Implementing Rules and Regulations & Provincial Ordinance, accomplishment reports on Human and Animal Rabies Prevention Center, presentation of Rabies Prevention and Control Program (regional and next steps), presentation of Human Rabies, cases and status of Laguna on Rabies Prevention and Control OPLAN RED (rabies elimination on dogs), presentation of Animal Rabies status in the region of CALABARZON, presentation of Animal Rabies Status in the Province of Laguna, Responsible Pet Ownership Lecture and Campaign.

The highlight of the event was the Signing of Pledge of Commitment, an opportunity to show support to bring to an end the unnecessary suffering and death caused by rabies.
