PDRRMO hosts flag raising ceremony

Provincial Disaster  Risk Reduction & Management Office

The Laguna Provincial Disaster  Risk Reduction & Management Office (PDRRMO) hosted the flag raising ceremony on Monday, 31 July 2017 at the provincial capitol Time Plaza.  Head of office Mr. Ernie M. Montecillo reported on the accomplishments of the office from July 2016 to July 2017.

 

Trainings. The office has conducted a total of 88 trainings namely: Basic Life Support−Standard First Aid (35); Contingency Planning/GIS (8); Earthquake Drill/Disaster Preparedness (34);   Water Safety and Rescue Operations (15);  Incident Command System (27);  and High Angle Rope & Rescue Training (4), with total participants of 3,138 at 1589, 263, 830, 578, 988, and 141 for each respective training.

 

Recipients of said trainings included LGUs; schools (elementary and high school) universities and colleges;  NGOs (Kabalikat Charity, Fratenity); private companies; law enforcement institutions (Laguna Police Provincial Office, Public Safety Company, Infantry Brigade, Army Reserve).

 

Trainers’ Trainings. The staff also attended 64 various seminars, meetings, and events.  On the other hand trainers participated in new trainings on Risk Communication and Media Management, Local Climate Change, Community Based Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Action Plan, Contingency Planning, and Local Disaster and Risk Reduction and Management Plan.

              

Medical Assistance.  PDRRMO assisted 140 and transferred 145 patients, and put up 78 emergency response booths during  special events, the Festival, and fiesta fun run; responded to 199 vehicular accidents; 7 fire incidents; and drowning incidents with number of casualties at 276, 2, and 18, respectively, and deaths at 9.

 

Other accomplishments included: Distributed Fire Blankets and Mosquito Nets to different cities and municipalities; Participated in RESCUE MARCH last July 2016 and July 26, 2017; Incident Management Team at the 1st CALABARZON Diocesan DRRM Summit held on July 7, 2017 in

San Pablo City; and Conducted a Quarterly Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill

PDRRMO also monitored 14 typhoons in 2016 and six in 2017.  Actions taken were dissemination of Information to PDRRMC AND C/MDRRMOs through email, phones and social media; convened emergency meeting/PDRA with the PDRRMC and C/MDRRMOs; activated Emergency Operation Center and Incident Command System; and continuous Monitoring of Installed Early Warning System; consolidation of situational reports and reporting to the Office of Civil Defense IV-A; and setting up of alternative communication system.
