National Batang Pinoy winners receive incentives from PGL

Provincial Sports and Games Development Office

January 25, 2019

The 2018 Batang Pinoy National Finals medalists and coaches received their cash incentives from Governor Ramil L. Hernandez during a courtesy call on January 7, 2019 at the Cultural Center of Laguna, Sta. Cruz, Laguna.

A total of 78 athletes and coaches were provided with incentives after seizing 33 gold, 13 silver and 33 bronze medals in the National Batang Pinoy held in Baguio City last September 2018.

The Laguna delegation brought home the 3rd overall national championship and is set to receive a 2 million pesos worth of incentive from the Philippine Sports Commission early this year which shall be used for the sports development programs of the province.

Sports Development Officer Gerardo S. Cantada is optimistic that the courtesy call and the cash incentives will further inspire and encourage Laguna athletes and coaches to perform well in future Batang Pinoy competitions including in the upcoming Luzon Qualifying Leg which will be held in Ilagan City, Isabela on March 16-23, 2019.

The Philippine Sports Commission’s Batang Pinoy, also known as the Philippine Youth Games, is declared as the National Sports Development Program for Children through Executive Order No. 44 which addresses the country’s need for a comprehensive grassroots program.
