LPH-Luisiana District Hospital
November 20, 2017

The Luisiana District Hospital (LDH) marked another milestone on November 9, 2017 as it received the prestigious Department of Health (DOH) Red Orchid Hall of Fame Award, together with Red Orchid Awardees Laguna Provincial Capitol, Provincial Health Office, Laguna Medical Center and Laguna Provincial Jail at Fort Ilocandia, Laoag City, Ilocos Norte.

Local Government Units (LGUs) that won the Red Orchid were each given Php100,000 worth of drugs and medicines as incentive for implementing a 100% smoke-free environment. The Province of Laguna qualified in the LGU category and also won the Red Orchid Award, receiving Php100,000 in cash.

The Department of Health Red Orchid Award is an annual search for government offices, hospitals, and local government units strictly implementing a 100% Tobacco-Free environment. The winner is judged based on comprehensive efforts to implement the said anti-smoking campaign using the World Health MPOWER criteria.

Present during the awarding ceremony were Provincial Health Officer Dr. Rene Bagamasbad, LDH Chief of Hospital I Dr. Ma. Eloisa D. Inano and Smoking Cessation Program Coordinators Dr. Cathy Quintero and Mr. Sherwin Dizon.
