Dr. JP Rizal MDH hosts flag raising ceremony

Dr. Jose P. Rizal Memorial District Hospital
October 06, 2016

The Dr. J.P. Rizal Memorial District Hospital (DJPRMDH) with Dr. Anthony Borlongan as its chief, hosted the weekly flag raising ceremony on Monday, 03 October 2016 at the provincial capitol Time Plaza.

This year’s strategic direction of the institution revolved around the theme, “FORM, NORM, TRANSFORM” Below is a walkthrough of the components of the theme:
FORM – a word originated from the Latin word “forme” which means to mold or shape. In Tagalog, it means humugis or iporma. For the first two quarters of this year, JP Rizal focused on facility renovations and services upgrade.
•On March 18, the dialysis center at DJPRMDH in partnership with Nephrosynergies Philippines Inc. headed by the CEO, Ms. Miriam Martin, was officially opened. It has 12 dialysis machines offering two shifts daily. It is the second among the 9 district hospitals to have a dialysis center in the province, next to the Laguna Medical Center (LMC) in Sta. Cruz.
•Through the collaboration of the Provincial Government of Laguna (PGL) and DJPRMDH with its private institution partner, Nec Tokin Phils. headed by President Mr. Kiyokawa,  the pediatric ward was successfully renovated on June 20. The pediatric census, in patient and out-patient combined, has reached a significant increase of 20%  since its inauguration.
•The hospital’s sewerage treatment plant which is a part of its compliance with the DOH, DENR, and LLDA was renovated in July this year.
•Towards the last stretch of this year, JP Rizal is looking forward to the renovation of the Medical Ward, being the beneficiary of the recently held Fun Run organized by Delta Design Philippines, Calamba.
•Renovation of the OB Ward which will also take place in the latter part of this year is also in the works with the SM Foundation.
•Moreover, DJPRMDH received computers from KOICA together with LMC and MDH to further improve its Management Information System.
•They are also hoping for the establishment of General Intensive Care Unit in the latter part of the year which was planned and approved by Gov. Ramil L. Hernandez
•As far as financial performance is concerned, JP Rizal has achieved a 30% increase in Year-To-Date revenue versus Year-To-Date of last year.
•In terms of Blue Card utilization, it has reached a 20% increase versus last year.
•PhilHealth collection also increased by 40% compared to last year.
•Since JP Rizal is a non-profit institution, the increase in revenue was in no doubt brought about by the increase in the number of patients being accommodated by the hospital. Overall census grew by 25% YTD against YTD Census of 2015.

The second component of the strategic direction theme is NORM. It came from the Latin word “norma” which means precept or rule. In the current society, norm means standard acceptable behavior. In Tagalog, it means pamantayan.
•JP Rizal complied to all necessary requirements set forth by the different regulatory agencies like DOH, DENR, LLDA and CSC.
•It has been compliant to attendance tracking system, hence delay on salaries and benefits has been minimized.
•Hiring and selection through proper credentialling of all applicants was done to maintain the level of quality of health care given to all clients.
•Complaint Management System is improved especially with the creation of the Peer review committee, to discuss, investigate all patient concerns and complaints.
•Needless to say, efforts are geared towards the creation of culture of excellence, compassion, and integrity among the members and staff of JP Rizal.
The last component of the strategic direction is the culmination, the overall goal of all efforts in 2016, that is to TRANSFORM.
Transform came from the word transformation which means change in form, in Tagalog pagbabago sa porma o anyo. It may be synonymous to CHANGE but it is deeper in essence because the effect or outcome is more glaring, it is not merely CHANGE but CHANGE IN FORM.
This is also what JP Rizal Hospital is aiming for --- TRANSFORMATION.  Efforts to Form and create a Norm is purposely done to achieve transformation. By 2017, the hospital is looking forward to become the 1st Level 2 DOH Accredited District Hospital under the PGL to cater patients of the 1st and  2nd Districts of the province.
Dr. Borlongan and the rest of the hospital staff are sincerely grateful for the continuous support being extended to us by the provincial government headed by Governor Ramil L. Hernandez.
They are asking for everybody’s  prayers and support to JP Rizal Hospital so that they can successfully achieve their 2016 goals ---- to strategically FORM, to create a NORM, and to significantly TRANSFORM.
